Doug Miller Soccer is pleased to announce the arrival of our Youth Development Academy (YDA). This historic milestone in Rochester youth soccer development, allows dedicated and talented young players to reach their highest level of youth soccer development. YDA affords young players the ability to experience a high level training environment at Rochester’s elite training center. Through corporate sponsors, Doug Miller Soccer is able to offer this training at an incredible all-inclusive cost of $699.
The YDA will give youth players the ultimate training experience, and provide a quality and enjoyable soccer environment that will enhance their fundamental technical skills, decision-making, and understanding of the game.
"I wish to thank everyone who helped make the YDA a reality. YDA signifies the vision, passion and commitment that it takes to make this historic moment in Rochester youth player development a reality,” commented Doug Miller. “It is our hope that this significant commitment to youth soccer development will ignite community interest in establishing a development program that all players and parents can unite behind to best serve the most talented and dedicated players in the region.”
Q. WHAT AGE GROUP DOES THE DMS YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY(YDA) ENCOMPASS?
A. Boys and girls from U8 to U10 are welcome to be a part of our program.
Q. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE DOUG MILLER SOCCER YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY (YDA) AND TRAVEL/REC. SOCCER?
A. A key difference between the programs is coaching. The coaching staff is directed by Doug Miller and Steve Christenson, both USSF “A” licensed coaches. All Doug Miller Soccer coaches are licensed, certified coaches with prior playing or coaching experience. Most travel and recreation teams are coached by parents and volunteers, who may not have prior coaching or playing experience. Our coaches utilize a long-term developmental program to develop all players to their greatest potential.
B. DMS Youth Development Academy offers significantly more training time when compared with travel soccer. While most travel teams practice 2-3 times per month during the winter, DMS Youth Academy teams will train 2 times a week in our state of the art Indoor Facility for 11 months of the year. This equates to over 90 team training sessions. In addition, the DMS Youth Development Academy includes indoor & outdoor games and outdoor tournaments.
C. DMS Youth Development Academy offers a much focused coaching curriculum. With significantly more training time the DMS Youth Academy can focus on the building blocks of development:
(1) Motor Skill Development
(2) Technique and Skill Development
(3) Individual Training focusing on the principles of play
(4) Small Group Training focusing on combinations & speed of play
(5) Fitness & Psychology
Q. HOW DOES THE COST OF THE DMS YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY COMPARE TO TRAVEL SOCCER CLUBS IN THE AREA?
A. Most travel level clubs in the area have registration fees that run from $250-450 for a season. This may not include any indoor training time during the winter, or costs associated with participation in tournaments. The Doug Miller Youth Academy is an all-inclusive package. There are no additional costs, and no fundraising.
